Fresh Meat for KilLeR

It has been time for a tire change for some time now. I finally dedicated a Saturday to take care of it before blowout city. Thought I'd post up a few pictures, as I'm rather proud of my first (almost) solo tire swap. I got about 7800 miles out of my OEM Dunlop front tire, which was about twice what I got out of the rear. Replacement was a Kenda 270, which is a pretty cheap tire rated as a 50% on and 50% off road tire by most adventure riders. It has a pretty good reputation for its price, with a few having reservations about it being a little slippery when wet on the road. I'll have to see.

Anyway, in the first picture, you'll see my wheel off, and the speedo hanging free. This scared me a little, as I had visions of messing up the reassembly and having to use a GPS for speed and mileage.

Here you see my well-worn brake pads. I decided to change them, so I enlisted help from my friend, neighbor, and experienced MX racer, Sam. We knocked out the brake in no time.

Here's the wheel and old tire...

And here's the new tire on and being balanced...

And here's KilLeR sporting fresh meat! Yeah...time to ride! Note: I had to ride around for an hour or so with the tire both under, then over, inflated in order to get the bead to finally seat correctly.

Get ready for our next installment when I show off my new birthday gear! This is different from showing off my birthday suit, don't worry.
